This was a beautiful and wonderful place to stay. All the staff were very kind and courteous. The room and decor was lovely and the food was excellent! My husband and I celebrated New Years at the Fitzpatrick and standing on our balcony overlooking the water watching all the Fireworks! It was so nice to be there for new years 2016 and to start our castle tour with this lovely castle

Thanks to everyone at the Castle for a wonderful weekend, especially to Mark, the GM and Sandra, the revenue manager) We were sad to leave. Kids had a great time at the pool. Quality of the food (we ate in the Dungeon Bar, the Grill and the lobby and of course breakfast) was excellent and the level of service provided by staff was exceptional.

On return from holidays, we stayed two nights in Fitzpatricks. It was a haven from the bad weather. We enjoyed the comfort of our lovely refurnished room and the lovely blazing fires in the large reception and bar area downstairs. We hadn't booked dinner on the evening of our arrival but Axel, the wonderful Maître d', squeezed us in, and we had a very good meal, also the following evening. Margaret in reception also deserves a mention for her friendliness and helpfulness. With the lovely walks around there, shops in proximity and the direct bus to the airport, I highly recommend Fitzpatrick's Castle.

We spent 3 nights in Fitzpatrick Castle, 2 adults + young children. The initial room we booked was too small, which was not fault of the hotel but ours. The reception staff was extremely accommodating in offering a range of upgrade options. We found was a perfect room and enjoyed lots of space for the duration of our stay.
The restaurant was busy on Saturday night but still managed to find us a nice table without reservation. The food was excellent and great value for money. Once more the staff was very helpful despite their intensive workload.
There was a good range of breakfast options and excellent service at all times.
The next days we elected to use the room service as the restaurants were too busy to submit the young kids to the long wait. Funnily enough room service was a very efficient and faster than the restaurants, offering the same wide choice of dishes.
Everyone's favourite was the clamchowder soup, by far one of the best we ever had, very light and tasty with lots of pieces of fish.
The kids enjoyed the 20m swimming pool every morning from 10:00 to 12:00.
This was an excellent stay which unfortunately had to come to an end.
We could not praise enough the staff for making this a wonderful 3 days.
Definitely one to come back to everytime we are in Dublin.

Picture the scene. Daughter is having a sleepover for her 30th birthday and it's an all girls night. Disco, karaoke, the works. Nothing for it but to move out for the night. So we booked into the local Fitzpatrick's Castle Hotel in Killiney.
I have been a frequent visitor to the bar in the hotel which I like, and the lobby area is a lovely space for watching the world go by. I have also attended plenty of functions in the hotel - but I have never stayed overnight.
So, we splashed out and booked a suite - the Royal Suite no less! It turned out to be a beautiful room, nice lounge with TV, fire, writing desk, table for eating and this room even had a small Christmas tree for the time of year.
Fresh fruit and truffles awaited us on the dining table. The safe and the teasmade were cleverly hidden in a cabinet.

The bedroom had a 2 poster bed. A nice large bedroom, the decoration was a bit busy but a nice room all the same. Another TV here with Sky Sports too. Fine wardrobes with his and her gowns, iron etc.
A very nice bathroom with great lighting and his and her washhand basins and mirrors. It also housed a large bath and a separate shower.

This is a corner suite and is on the 5th floor so it has wonderful views. The North facing window looks out to sea with Howth in the distance and Dun Laoghaire piers in view. The other window has a panorama of Dublin city and suburbs.
There is a large balcony with seating along the expanse of the room. A bit chilly in December but I'm sure is lovely in the Summer.

Breakfast was good - plenty of a selection of fresh fruit and plenty of choice.
Staff are very friendly.

I suppose the best recommendation for this hotel is the location. It is on Killiney hill with excellent walks at your doorstep - up over the hill to the Obelisk, then on to the castle and back through the woods. Dalkey village is only down the hill with its wonderful pubs and restaurants.

The port of Dun Laoghaire is a couple of miles away - more great walks along the seafront or on the piers.

Dublin city is accessible via the Dart train - there is a train station in Dalkey.

I nearly forgot - the hotel also has a gym and swimming pool.

I first visited the Fitzpatrick Castle Hotel in Killiney in May of 2013, and just spent another couple nights there in December 2015. The room this time was nothing short of incredible, last time we got the Newlywed Suite (it was birthday, we didn't ask) this time we asked about free upgrades and got a gorgeous two room suite! It was spectacular, a full living room / parlour with a decorated and lit Christmas Tree and a Fireplace - a full size couch, TV private balcony (TWO!) and one and a half baths! The room was on the corner a few floors up and had stunning views of the bay, the sea, and nearby villages. The staff at this hotel are superior- the bartender was most helpful in helping us choose our outings and where to go, and they had great local Irish beers. Only complaint is that the restaurant could be better. We ordered the two vegetarian choices they had, and both were incredibly bland. We will go back everytime we're in the area though! LOVED IT!
