YOUR DUBLIN WEDDING VENUE

Francesca & Brian's Wedding

In the run-up to our big day, we had the pleasure of visiting Fitzpatrick Castle a few times over the past year and each time it was a great experience.

We spent almost an entire week here before our wedding day and our families and friends stayed at the Castle too…we always felt at home.

We are a big Italian/American/Irish family and we had people coming from all over the World. The team at the Castle was extremely patient, helpful, and smiling. Every single staff member we met, we talked to or we requested something to, had the time to smile, to give us the best answer, or to make sure everything was looked after!!

The attention to detail from everyone was impeccable from the food to the rooms, we loved everything every single bit of our experience...

We would do it all over again….the best day of our lives!

THE COUPLE

Tell us a little about how you met

Brian and I met in 2002 in Madrid when we were both working at the Hard Rock Cafe...at that time we only conversed in Spanish, as I didn't speak English yet...We actually switched to English only a few years ago... (when my English started to be much better than his Spanish ;)

I moved to London in 2007 and Brian was traveling a lot there for his job, so we always kept in touch, first emails, then social media and we saw each other pretty much every year, we were good friends, and we were both in different relationships.

In July 2015 he came to London for a long weekend we were both free and single...we had more time to spend together and we realized we were just perfect for each other...and we have been together since that weekend!! The next time we met after that weekend just after a couple of months, it was in Dublin...for another amazing weekend when Brian sang for me " Dirty Old Town"! This song was the first dance at our wedding...Lots of traveling after that, I was still living in London and Brian in Chicago. We had the amazing opportunity to travel a lot together, that is our favourite hobby!!

Chicago is where our home is, and where our young family will grow soon, with the addition of our son Sean who will arrive in June.

The funniest part was probably to try to organize everything from another Country...and to meet all the wonderful people we met on our way.

From Bev that made the beautiful and delicious wedding cake, to Eva who organized the flowers, our fantastic band...it was an incredible week.

Our families from 2 different countries met for the first time and somehow managed to understand each other and to create an amazing atmosphere.

Our friends also came from all over the world to make our wedding day just perfect.

THE SETTING

Ceremony

We had our Ceremony at St. Annes Church in Shankhill. Father John was just great, he made us feel comfortable, and he guided us through every single step...We felt right at home!

The Church is itself already stunning, but the flowers and the atmosphere made it perfect.

A very emotional moment was when the singer sang a song in a Sardinian dialect that she only learned just for us, Catherine Byrne, she was truly amazing.

THE DREAM TEAM

Fitzpatrick Castle Wedding Planner

Jill and the team were absolutely perfect, everyone on staff was amazing. The Deputy General Manager Chris really stands out as someone who anticipated our needs and questions to help make the surreal and magical day all the more special. The team's attention to detail and service was a perfect touch.

John & Ryans Wedding

Our big day started as most do, with coffee!  But this time, we were in our special room, surrounded by lavish furnishings, beautifully decorated.  We sat, drank coffee, and talked about how incredibly fortunate we were, to be with our nearest and dearest friends and family, in a country we love, in a town we adore, and in the exact place we dreamt about eighteen months earlier: Fitzpatrick Castle!

THE COUPLE

Tell us a little about how you met

In this modern age of meeting and dating, we met like a lot of folks do, online.  John was in Spain showing a friend the dating website he was trying, and John discovered that I’d sent him a note, from Arizona!  We began chatting and got to know each other while John was living in Spain.  Months passed, and we finally met when John returned to Arizona.  As trite as it may sound, it really was love at first sight, and since then, four years later, we continue to enjoy each other’s company as much if not more than when we first met.

THE SETTING

Ceremony

We chose the Prince Regent Suite to hold both the ceremony and the reception.  The castle staff were nothing short of incredible in their set-up for the ceremony which took place in one half of the room, while separated by a floor-to-ceiling drape, the other side was set up for the reception with 65 guests.  The ceremony area looked beautiful, with rows of white-covered chairs each appointed with a satin red sash.  The room was lit low from above, and up lit from the floor in warm shades of red.

After our guests were seated, our wedding attendants were led in by the gentle and resonant sounds coming from our wonderful harpist.  Finally, both John and I were led in by the sharp and majestic sounds being played by our fantastic bagpiper!  The setting was just as we imagined – the room felt warm and special, the music was perfect, and we couldn’t have been more pleased with how each detail was attended to by the ever-helpful staff of the castle.

THE DREAM TEAM

Fitzpatrick Castle Wedding Planner

Our Wedding Coordinator, Sarah, was simply wonderful, an absolute joy to work with.  From the very beginning, Sarah proved to be more than just helpful in answering questions, she offered suggestions or alternatives and was incredibly accommodating with our many requests and changes.  Her positivity and enthusiasm for our wedding were infectious and felt very genuine.  It is Sarah with whom we had absolute trust and confidence that our wedding would happen in just the way we hoped and discussed.  A word must be included for ALL of the staff of the castle.  From our arrival day until after our wedding celebration, the staff we all encountered were very polite, kind, and helpful.  Sarah also pointed us towards other vendors who were as equally wonderful in helping coordinate flowers, music, and photography services.

GLITZ & GLAM

Wedding Dresses & Accessories

As our wedding date was close to the Christmas holidays, we chose traditional colors of the season: black, white, and red for the men, accented by silver gowns worn by our female attendants.

John and I wore traditional black suits, with white vests and white short collar button-up shirts, adorned with a medium-dark red satin ascot, accented by red satin pocket squares, red Calla Lilies on our lapels, and silver pocket watches hung from our vests.  We also wore black socks with green shamrocks on them for good luck!

BEAUTY PREP

Hair & Makeup

With respect to the day-of personal preparations, we opted for the best Ireland has to offer.  For the music, we met with and were very happy to have Mrs. Finoula Monks play her harp beautifully before and throughout our ceremony.  The castle bagpiper played us down the aisle and into the reception.  The after-dinner dance music was provided by Dave Morrison of Pro PRO DJs/Uplighters.ie.  Dave and his team also brilliantly up-lit the walls for both the ceremony and the reception, which made a huge difference in the ambiance and feel of the room.

We visited several suit hire stores but ultimately chose Aston Formal Wear in Temple Bar for their professionalism and personal attention to every detail of our request.  For flowers, we went with Sanctuary Flowers in South Dublin.  Frida was our contact and she beautified our already stunning-looking wedding party with large, long stem red and white Calla Lillies held by the ladies, and small white Calla Lillies for the men in the party, and two small red Calla Lillies for John and I. Lastly, our photos were fantastically shot by Mr. Dermot Byrne.

Ruth & Conors Wedding

From the moment we met the team in Fitzpatrick’s Castle, we knew it was the right place for us! Every member of staff greets you with a smile and warm welcome - it’s a one-of-a-kind place.  The team know their roles and what the hotel offers, inside out, and everything is presented to such a high standard, in hugely charming, old-world surroundings

Conor and I, and our families, had enjoyed many meals, functions, balls, and drinks in Fitzpatrick’s over the years, and we have always been treated royally.

Our wedding was quite large - 200 people - with friends and family joining us from all over the world and many of them staying in the Castle.  Every need was accommodated, and everyone enjoyed the day and their stay immensely!

THE COUPLE

Tell us a little about how you met

We met in 2006 in the Palace nightclub on Camden Street.  Conor had played in a band with friends of mine, so I knew him to see.  He claims I stole his drink in an effort to get chatting to him, but I did think it was mine…

THE SETTING

Ceremony

We had our ceremony at The Church of the Assumption Dalkey. Conor’s cousin Colm (Father Colly) was our priest - he is a fantastic priest, great company, and a lovely singer.  We were so lucky to have him!

I was confirmed in Dalkey Church and grew up in Dalkey so being married in that church was very special.

Both Conor and I play music, and have some very musical friends – a group of eight of them played music in the church including some of our favourite songs by Talking Heads and Arcade Fire – They were incredible!

Following the ceremony, our guests joined us for drinks in both the Kings Inn and Finnegan's pub – the staff in both places couldn’t have been better in catering for our huge crowd!  The weather on the day was beautiful, and the walk through the village was so memorable! When we arrived at the Castle we were greeted with a drinks reception in the Dungeon with music provided by Conor’s cousins Robert and Shane and his Uncle Sean.  Following the outstanding dinner in the Prince Regent Suite, the dancefloor was full all night thanks to The Goods Wedding Band.  Following a late-night snack, we retired back to the Dungeon for dancing til late with DJ Dave Byrne.

THE DREAM TEAM

Fitzpatrick Castle Wedding Planner

Planning the wedding was made so straightforward by the team in the Castle, led by Jill.  Every meeting we had was so calm and organized - every request and query was welcomed, and any worries were quickly allayed.  The evening of our tasting was a particular treat - the food and wine were obviously incredible, and the service we had from all the staff was second to none!  We couldn’t wait to go back!

Every measure was taken by the team at the Castle to help make October 6th, 2017 the best day of our lives!

GLITZ & GLAM

Wedding Dresses & Accessories

My dress was an original from de Stafford bridal on Wicklow Street.  My jewellery and hair jewels were from Jules Bridal in Blackrock.  The bridesmaids were all online purchases, with their dresses from ASOS, and their jewellery from AliExpress. Our bouquets were from Bloomingdale's florist in Dalkey.

BEAUTY PREP

Hair & Makeup

My hairstylist was Joanne Kelly, and Tara O’Farrell my make-up artist – both gorgeous people and amazing at what they do – they totally worked their magic and put us all at ease throughout the morning.

Malicia & Flavios Wedding

I let Flavio do most of the organising for our big day I had watched “Don’t tell the bride” numerous of times and thought he could be very good at that for he’s like organizing himself so left him to it and he didn’t disappoint, we picked and chose most of the things together but left most of the stress to him but I kept the biggest secret from him for our big day... I had surprised him with his dream motorcycle. I really set the bar high,....Triumph Bonneville!

He was so shocked he couldn’t believe it was his and even got to have a spin around the green of the hotel on the big day!

THE COUPLE

Tell us a little about how you met

Malicia and I met in Italy in the Summer of 2004,...yep it’s 14 years!!!!

Going back to Italy every year to the village where my parents were born Malicia happened to be there at the same time that year. I had spotted Mali around the village a few times thinking to myself.. hmm, she’s very cute, and must admit I was a little shy to approach her.

During my 2 weeks we had also gone to the beach together with a group of friends but me being a little shy didn’t really talk so it all kicked off the last night of the holiday on the steps of the local towns council, Mali had walked over to me sitting down and after 10 minutes of chatting I asked her if she fancied going to the nightclub and she happily said yes, from there the first kiss then onto my first trip to Belgium in October of that year and her first trip to Ireland the following November, only being just over an hour by plane, we were loved up enough to keep the long-distance relationship for the next 4 years until she decided to surprise me and move to Ireland in 2008.

We have 2 beautiful daughters, our first daughter Mila was born in 2012 and our second daughter Asia in 2014, I then ask her to marry me on her 30th birthday in June of 2015, and set the date for the 2nd of July 2017 and thought Fitzpatrick Castle would be the perfect venue for us.

THE SETTING

Ceremony

The ceremony was perfect, beautiful, and emotional. It had everything from the stretched-out green lawns of the castle grounds with the castle towering behind us together with our guests who travelled from Belgium, Italy, and all over Ireland along with the weather...the setting was perfect.

We couldn’t have asked for more from the hotel staff, they really made us feel like king and queen in a castle and to the wonderful civil servant, Siobhan, and to the beautiful sound of the harp playing in the background.

THE DREAM TEAM

Fitzpatrick Castle Wedding Planner

It was an absolute pleasure for ourselves to have Jill and Sarah looking after us over the last year and a half, I'm sure not a lot of people would have

Had the both of you looking after them.

Everything over the last year and a half all came down to a day and a half of pure perfection thank you so much overall, we couldn't fault you guys in the hotel from the kitchen to the service in the hotel,...amazing! We enjoyed every minute of it.

GLITZ & GLAM

Wedding Dresses & Accessories

I in the meantime, Malicia, looking for the perfect dress isn’t all that easy. First I went to Belgium to look for the dress along with my maid of honour and my mum. We couldn’t find the one so it wasn’t until the summer of 2016 I happened to find my perfect dress in ITALY.

BEAUTY PREP

Hair & Makeup

My hair was done by Michelle O’Connor who works in fusion hairdressers in Dun Laoghaire, a friend of Daniella one of my bridesmaids. My make up was done by a family friend Nikki Vecchio who works in House of Fraser in Dundrum. They did a fantastic job on making the girls and I look fantastic for the big day.
